ABS STONE CAPPED RESIN SHOWER TRAYS EXPLAINED.

Like the heavy duty Quality shower trays that were mass produced in british factories during the 1980s and 1990s from stone resin, our ABS capped stone resin are are also of the high standard you would expect from branded names like ideal standard and MX. These stone resin trays are topped with an ABS covering rather than being sprayed with paint. This ensures a durable shine and colour, which can handle scratches and scuffs a lot better, most small marks can even be sandpapered and disappeared entirely. The ABS finish also helps to prevent premature cracking of the stone resin filler that can weaken over time. These shower trays are generally low profile meaning the edge will not stick up very far once fit, providing that there is room available underneath for the plumbing. This makes them ideal for use in wet rooms or where easy access is essential.

ACRYLIC SHOWER TRAYS EXPLAINED.

Acrylic Shower Trays are formed from a sheet of plastic through a process of a heat treatment and a vacuum. Often these are then reinforced with fibreglass in much a similar way that acrylic baths are strengthened. Some are filled with a type of expanding foam which make them very light, although these trays are regarded as having an entry level quality.

Fibreglass Shower Trays are formed from fibreglass and then spray painted. This is more of a modern traditional process and few manufacturers carry this method on in the 21st century due to the detrimental sresses that everyday use can have on the material, and the easily dulled nature of the colour finish. These trays were strong for their weight but prone to cracking and therfore leaking when placed under less stress than other materials.
